Schools and Partnerships
Schools wishing to make their sports and leisure facilities available for community use outside of school hours have a number of options for the management and operation of the facilties. These include a private operator, trust or charitable organisation or in-house management.
BLM is a private operator based in Surrey and currently manages three Sports Centres, all based at state secondary schools. The partnerships we have formed with the three schools aim to remove as mush financial risk from the school as possible (often a concern with in-house management) while also providing the expertise associated with managing a dual-use facility.
Larger operators often fail to understand the day-to-day needs of the school such as late sports matches and fixtures, exam periods requiring use of Sports Halls, one-off functions such as open-evenings and schools events and many other operational situations associated with school facilities.
Our management staff have worked in dual-use leisure for 12 years and understand the differences between a public Leisure Centre and a School Sports Facility. We encourage flexible working relationships and work hard to ensure the school gets to use their facilities when they need to, often at short notice! In return we find that schools work hard as well, helping to promote the facilities and activities wherever they can.
Should you be interested in discussing the management of your school sports or leisure facility we can send you written case studies outlining the details of how we work with each school.
